Meet NEDC’s New Executive Director!

We’re pleased to announce that NEDC has hired a new Executive Director. Jonah Sandford will be taking over the position from Mark Riskedahl, who is transitioning out this spring after two decades in the E.D. role.

Jonah has served as NEDC’s Staff Attorney since 2019, and was an active student volunteer with NEDC during his time at Lewis & Clark Law School, where he graduated in 2015. Before re-joining NEDC as Staff Attorney, Jonah served as Executive Director of the Deschutes River Alliance, and has clerked for Earthjustice, the Center for Biological Diversity, and WaterWatch of Oregon.

Jonah grew up in Missoula, Montana, and moved to Portland after graduating from the University of Montana in 2003. He spends his free time hiking, cycling, canoeing, and finding other ways to explore this incredible corner of the country.

Please join us in welcoming Jonah to his new role—drop him a note at jonah@nedc.org to say hello!
